MTV VMAs to Be Held at Madison Square Garden for the First Time

MTV Video Music Awards 2016The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards are quite possibly the most highly-anticipated show of the year. The 33rd MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, at 9pm ET on MTV from the Madison Square Garden in New York City and the event will be hosted by pop singer Miley Cyrus.

For the first time in its 33-year history, the MTV Video Music Awards will be held at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The VMAs hosted its first two iterations, in 1984 and 1985, at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, and throughout its history the show has flipped between the Big Apple and Los Angeles. (Miami and Las Vegas have also hosted for one year apiece.MTV Video Music Award logo

August 28 will mark the 16th time the VMAs have aired from New York, including the first-ever broadcast in 1984 and most recently in 2013 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the show’s 30th anniversary. The network is offering the All Access Live Stream option for fans to watch the show online from their computers and mobile phones.

The VMAs are an incredible showcase for many talented artists and deliver some of pop culture’s most defining moments.
