Billy Bob Thornton is an American actor, screenwriter, director and musician. Thornton made his first break with co-writing and starring in 1992 film One False Move which made into several Top 10 lists of 1992 and earned him an Independent Spirit Award nomination. He also appeared in CBS sitcom Hearts Afire and starred in several 1990s films in supporting roles including in Blood in Blood Out, Indecent Proposal, Dead Man, and Tombstone. He came to international attention after writing, directing, and starring in the highly acclaimed independent film Sling Blade, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and nominated for Academy Award for Best Actor. He appeared in several major film roles following Sling Blade's success, including A Simple Plan which earned him his third Oscar nomination. He later achieved a bigger international recognition and critical acclaim for his works in U Turn, Primary Colors, Armageddon, Monster's Ball, Bandits, The Man Who Wasn't There, Bad Santa, Intolerable Cruelty, Love Actually, Friday Night Lights and The Alamo.
