Jack Abraham Newfield was a muckraking journalist and columnist who worked for more than 20 years for The Village Voice, and at the Daily News and the New York Post. Beginning in the mid-1960s, he covered the emergence of the New Left and the Civil Rights Movement. He became a close friend of Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
He also wrote several major books about social movements and political figures, beginning with A Prophetic Minority, and including a memoir about Robert Kennedy. His book, The Full Rudy: The Man, the Myth, the Mania, about Mayor Rudy Giuliani, won an American Book Award in 2003.
