Darren Bagert is an entertainment producer, focusing primarily on Broadway and West End theater.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana he is a graduate of New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and the Florida State University School of Theatre.
Bagert is a two-time Tony Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winning producer.
Currently producing the new American Play, "My Name Is Asher Lev", which is based on the worldwide best-selling novel by Chaim Potok and "Picnic" by William Inge, in association with the Roundabout Theater Company, directed by Sam Gold, starring Maggie Grace, Sebastian Stan, Mare Winingham, Ellen Burstyn, Reed Birney, and others. He was a producer on The Gershwin's Porgy & Bess", which won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. Darren was a lead producer on "Gore Vidal's The Best Man", with such stars as James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, Candice Bergen, Eric McCormack, Cybill Shepherd, John Stamos, Kristin Davis, and others. With his London partners, he produced the highly acclaimed play, ENRON directed by Rupert Goold, which was first performed at the Chichester Festival Theatre, then transferred to the Royal Court Theatre, then onto the West End before it arrived on Broadway. Darren also produced the Broadway revival of the American musical Guys and Dolls, directed by Des McAnuff and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, the same team behind Jersey Boys, which garnered the TONY Award Nomination for Best Musical Revival. He produced the Tony Award winning musical Company by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth on Broadway and he was Executive Producer for television on the production televised on PBS/Great Performances. Bagert produced the highly-acclaimed Tony Award nominated production of Sweeney Todd by Stephen Sondheim starring Patti LuPone and Michael Cerveris, directed by John Doyle that toured North America.
