One of his most renowned onscreen performances was as Del Griffith, the loquacious, on-the-move shower-curtain ring salesman in the John Hughes comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles. His final two films, Wagons East! and Canadian Bacon, are dedicated to his memory.
