Suman Chakraborty

Suman Chakraborty is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for science and technology, the highest science award in India, for the year 2013 in engineering science category. His areas of research are microfluidics and nanofluidics, interfacial phenomena and phase change, and computational fluid dynamics. Chakraborty was the first scientist-awardee to lose the prestigious Swarnajayanti Fellowship given by the Department of Science and Technology annually to exceptionally talented young scientists for research, after being found guilty of scientific misconduct by two investigative panels. Chakraborty has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy and a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He is a recipient of the Scopus Young Scientist Award for high citation of his research in scientific/technical Journals, and Young Scientist/Young Engineer Awards from various National Academies of Science and Engineering. He has more than 230 research publications.
