Casey Silver

Casey Silver is an American film executive and producer. Silver began his career as a screenwriter and assistant to director Adrian Lyne on Flashdance. He later held executive posts at TriStar Pictures and Simpson Bruckheimer Productions. In 1987, Silver joined Universal Studios as executive vice president of production, being promoted as president of production in 1989, a post he held until 1994. Later he was promoted to chairman of the studio in November 1995. During the period where Silver worked at Universal, the studio had some of its most successful films, such as Jurassic Park, Field of Dreams and Liar Liar. He was fired from the post in December 1998, following a slew of box office disappointments such as Babe: Pig in the City and Meet Joe Black. Afterwards he founded production company Casey Silver Productions in 1999, whose works include Gigli, Hidalgo, Ladder 49, Leatherheads and The Forbidden Kingdom.
