John E. Drewry was a noted journalism instructor and was Dean of the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism.  Drewry also was a reporter for the Associated Press, and a correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.  Mr. Drewry was instrumental in the creation of the Peabody awards in 1940.
