Danny Blume is an American music producer, musician, and composer. He is a Grammy Award winner, multiple Grammy nominee, and co-founder/owner of the production team GoodandEvil with Christian Castagno, with studios operating in Brooklyn and Woodstock New York. .
Blume grew up in Columbus and Athens, OH, surrounded by a family of bluegrass musicians. He started playing guitar at age 8, after hearing The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper album. At sixteen, he began performing professionally in various country-western and R&B bands in the Boston area. Blume relocated to New York City in 1987, and became heavily involved in the vibrant downtown music scene in the 1990s, performing and recording with Kid Creole and the Coconuts, as well as many other artists. In 1997, Blume met Christian Castagno, and with the start of their team GoodandEvil began his focus on production. With GoodandEvil he received the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album “Wonder Wheelâ€, and has been nominated for Grammys for Sex Mob’s “Sexoticaâ€, and Miguel Bose’s “Papitoâ€.
Some GoodandEvil productions include Naty Botero, Voltio, The Klezmatics, Liminal, Elysian Fields, the Yohimbe Brothers, Amanda Lepore, Jody Watley, Crystal Waters, Paper Lions and Northern State. His original scores include “Night of the Living Jewsâ€, “Nosferatu†with Liminal, Susan Marshall’s dance performance “The One and Only You,†and Steven Koplowitz “A Walk Between Two Worldsâ€.
