Place of Birth Lennoxville, Quebec

Nationality
Duncan Weller is a writer and illustrator of his own children’s picture books. He is also a writer of adult short stories, poetry, and currently completing a young adult novel. He won two of Canada’s top awards, the Governor General's Award and the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award, for his third picture book, The Boy from the Sun. After a seven year absence from the children's book scene, Duncan is returning in 2013 with three children's picture books. His sixth and latest picture book will arrive in October. It is called The Ugg and the Drip and follows Big Electric Cat, and The Love Ant, also printed in 2013. His latest work for adults is Rocket Fish, a book of short stories. As a visual artist Duncan works in a variety of mediums incorporating both themes for adults and children, which he exhibits regularly. For a future book, Tiger Dream, about a tiger who escapes from a zoo in North America, he traveled to Ghana for a month in 2012 to research trickster stories and the slave trade. This trip was funded by a Chalmers Arts Fellowship. Disgruntled with his publisher, Simply Read Books, Duncan obtained the rights to his three previous children's picture books, Spacesnake, Night Wall, and The Boy from the Sun. These books and five more are now available on his eBookstore as PDFs. These books and several more that will appear in the next two years constitute twenty years of work. Duncan has become a self-published author, taking on the role of designer and promoter.
