Sarah Geronimo is a Filipino singer and actress. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, Manila, she attained popularity after winning the Star for a Night singing competition on television in 2003. Geronimo substantiated the fame with the release of her first album in the same year titled Popstar: A Dream Come True, when it became the best-selling debut album of all-time in the country. Following the success of the record, she staged her first major solo concert at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. At the age of 17, the singer became the youngest solo artist to have filled the well-renowned venue. As a singer she has received eight Awit Awards, seven Aliw Awards, nineteen Myx Music Awards and was recognized as Best Asian Artist in the Philippines at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2012 as well as National Best-Selling Artist at the World Music Awards for the year 2013. She gained further prominence in media when she signed a deal with ABS-CBN in 2004. After appearing in several television programs, the singer-actress ventured into film when she starred in A Very Special Love in 2008, a partnership between Star Cinema and VIVA Films.
