Richard Martin Gilman was one of the leading drama and literary critics of the second half of the 20th century. He was a professor at the Yale School of Drama for 31 years and the author of five books of criticism, and a memoir. Gilman died of lung cancer at the age of 83. He was born Jewish, converted to Catholicism as an adult, and lapsed from that faith eight years later. |
