Gary Gilbert

Gary Gilbert is a film producer and the founder and president of Gilbert Films, a motion picture production and financing company based in Los Angeles, California. Gilbert financed and produced the 2004 feature film Garden State starring Zach Braff and Natalie Portman. In 2005 Gilbert along with Braff won an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature Film. In 2010 Gilbert produced The Kids Are All Right which after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival was immediately acquired by Focus Features. The film was critically acclaimed and in 2011 won two Golden Globes. Annette Bening for Best Actress and Gilbert for Best Picture. The Kids Are All Right was nominated for four Academy Awards: Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, and Best Picture. Gilbert is also a co-owner of the National Basketball Association team the Cleveland Cavaliers, along with Usher and his brother, Dan Gilbert, chairman of Quicken Loans. Gilbert founded Rock Financial in 1985 with his older brother Dan. After a series of mergers, the company, through Quicken Loans, has become one of the nation's largest mortgage lenders.
