Richard Tousey was an American astronomer. He was a pioneer in the observation of the sun from space, and took the first photographs of the sun's ultraviolet spectrum, using a captured V-2 rocket. In 1960 he was awarded the Frederic Ives Medal by the OSA. He won the Henry Draper Medal from the National Academy of Sciences in 1963, the Eddington Medal in 1964, and the Henry Norris Russell Lectureship in 1966.
