Michael Gordon is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks of the National Rugby League. A New South Wales State of Origin representative goal-kicking winger. Michael Gordon did his schooling via Kingscliff High School and graduated from Year 12 in 2001.
In the 2009 season, Gordon kicked 23 consecutive goals before missing one. Gordon established himself as the Panthers number one goalkicker in 2009.
Michael Gordon's ability to single handedly tear his opposition ultimately turned himself into a fan favourite. In mid-2010, Gordon was switched to fullback and that has been his position of choice since then. Gordon has been labelled the 'backbone' in Penrith's outside backs. As a result of his successful transition to fullback he sought an improved salary with his next contract negotiations to match his new found status as a tackle busting fullback. This was on the back of two very serious injuries he sustained in two consecutive years.
In May 2012, the Cronulla Sharks made Gordon an offer which matched his ambitions which he accepted before Phil Gould, Executive General Manager of the Penrith Panthers, was able to make a counter-offer. It was then announced that Gordon would be leaving for the Sharks in 2013, on a 3 year deal ending in 2015.
