Kangana Ranaut is an Indian actress, primarily known for her work in Hindi films. After pursuing a career in modelling and theatre, Ranaut made her feature film debut in 2006 with a critically acclaimed performance in the thriller Gangster, for which she was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She garnered further recognition for her role as a troubled model in the 2008 drama Fashion, earning her a National Film Award and a Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actress category.
Ranaut subsequently featured in the commercially successful films Raaz – The Mystery Continues and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Her role in the 2011 romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu marked a departure from the dark, intense roles she was known for playing; the film proved to be a box office hit and garnered her praise from the critics. After a series of brief, glamorous roles, Ranaut achieved further success for her performance in the superhero film Krrish 3, one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time. In 2014, she established herself as a leading actress of contemporary Hindi cinema with her acclaimed role in the coming-of-age comedy-drama Queen, which also emerged as a commercial success.
