Patrick Deeley is an Irish poet and children's writer, born in Loughrea, County Galway, in 1953.
His poems have been published widely in Ireland and abroad over the past thirty years and appeared in numerous anthologies. Six collections of his work have appeared from Dedalus Press, as well as books in translation to Italian and French. A number of his stories for younger readers feature in the O'Brien Press Panda Series, and his novel The Lost Orchard won The Eilis Dillon Award in 2001. He worked as a primary school principal in Dublin before taking early retirement in 2012 to devote himself full-time to writing.
