T. J. Martin is an American documentary film maker. A graduate of Roosevelt High School and Fairhaven College at Western Washington University, he is best known for co-directing Undefeated, a documentary about a high school football team, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary on February 26, 2012. He is, notably, the first African-American to win this award.
On March 5, 2012, he gave his first interview to writer and fellow filmmaker Lathleen Ade-Brown for The Washington Post's The Root and stated the honor is so unexpected "I'm not used to people saying that; it doesn't sound like they are talking about me," he told The Root.
